Are we headed for a recession? Is your portfolio recession-proof?


Now might be the time to review how recession-proof is your portfolio. 

The U.S. economy hasn’t been in a recession since 2009.  While stock markets have a good performance in 2019 so far, slowing global economy, negative Leading Economic Indicators, and yield curve inversion create concerns about a potential recession in 2020-2021.  Recessions are never pleasant but investors have to deal with them from time to time.  Note that on a positive side, the consumer is in a good shape, unemployment is very low, average hourly earnings are increasing, household debt is at low level, and investor sentiment is not euphoric.
